To begin, let me apologize for the extra, gibberish-filled email that you received yesterday morning. I missed my 3AM deadline for posting, and in trying figure out how to send it at 3:45 instead, I accidentally shot off an extra one filled with meaningless code. Sorry!


I hope everyone had a chance to jettison some unwanted stuff at Golden Pride Days. We got rid of a broken computer and a broken tree. We were also inspired to take a bunch of stuff to Goodwill.


The Downtown Development Authority meets tonight at 6:30PM in City Council Chambers. They will consider a grant request of up to $300 to be used to improve signage for The Clothes Mine, a women’s consignment store at 1205 Washington Ave. Xicamiti La Taqueria Bistro (715 Washington Ave) is also requesting a sign grant, for $1550. The Downtown Golden Merchants will make a special grant request of $11,300 to help pay for this summer’s Golden Weekends (carriage rides, live music along the street, and late hours in the stores). If you’re a climber, get this on your calendar: On June 1 the climbing community is gathering in the home of the Mountaneering Museum for a festival celebrating all things climbing. Complete with carnival games, tours of the Museum, artist market, an open air vendor village, food trucks and local beverages — the Excellence in Climbing Celebration has something for everyone! The highlight is inducting inspirational climbing heroes Ken Yager and Laura Waterman into the Hall of Mountaineering Excellence and a presentation from legendary climber and writer Kelly Cordes. Tickets start at just $20.
