Congratulations to the Colorado School of Mines students who are receiving Bachelor’s Degrees this morning! The ceremony will be held at 9:30 at the Marv Kay Stadium (west end of 12th Street).
Colorado Haunted History is doing their first “Murder, Mayhem and Madness” tour of the year tonight at 10PM. Joel Chirhart knows his Golden history and does a good job of describing Golden’s seamy past.
STAMP OUT HUNGER – Your mail carrier will be collecting bags of non-perishable food tomorrow (Saturday May 14th). Please put together a bag of food and leave it out tomorrow! All of your food donations will stay right here in Golden. They will go into the Christian Action Guild’s food pantry. Would you like to volunteer to help sort and shelf the food? The Christian Action Guild will need you from 3-6PM at 1401 Ford Street. For safety reasons, volunteers need to be at least 12 years old. Questions? Tomorrow morning from 7AM-12PM, the Jeffco Sheriff’s office will hold a shred-a-thon. There is no charge, but voluntary donations will go to CrimeStoppers.
Tomorrow is Greener Golden day. If you pre-ordered a garden-in-a-box, pick it up between 9AM and noon at 1445 10th St. Individual xeric plants and water wise products will also be available for sale. While you’re there, tour the Golden Community Garden, have garden questions answered by CSU Extension Master Gardeners & Master Composters., and learn about the City’s Environmental Services programs. Pick up free compost to amend your garden soil! Bring your own container–buckets, trash cans, etc.
