Golden Writing Circle, Golden Beer Talk, Golden Workforce Development

The Golden Writing Circle meets at the Library tonight from 6-7:30. Do you want to start writing but have no idea where to begin? Do you have a manuscript you want some feedback on, or do you just need motivation? If you answered yes to any of these questions, consider attending one of our monthly meet-ups. This circle is open to all writers no matter skill level or writing interests. We offer feedback, critiquing, and general discussion. Rather than a class, we are a writing support circle—offering encouragement, inspiration, and motivation. Suitable for: Adults.

Natural Grocers is offering a class tonight from 6-7PM called Creating a Healthy Home. We’ve all heard horror stories of someone suffering from a chronic illness due to a mold infestation in their home. But, did you know that there are a lot of other toxic compounds found in your home, like constant exposure to electromagnetic frequencies, that may be damaging to your health? Get all the tips and tricks on creating a healthy home environment. Free.

Tonight’s Golden Beer Talk features archivist Erin McDanal. In large part the history of Colorado is the history of its water use. From at least 1200 A.D. to the current period, the region now known as Colorado has depended on its access to water to support civilization. It hasn’t been easy managing water within an arid and drought-prone region. Many scientists believe that climate change will only stretch the limits of our state’s water supply as Colorado’s population grows, making drought a significant issue in the future as it has been in the past. Erin’s talk will focus on the responses to drought by the governors of Colorado during the development of the state. Windy Saddle will be serving dinner and tonight’s beer comes from Westfax. People will start staking claims on tables at about 6PM and the program will start at about 6:35.

The Economic Development Commission (EdComm) meets tonight at 6:30 at the Planning Office (1445 10th St.). They will discuss progress regarding their Workforce Development goals, which include:

• Prepare venues and opportunities to communicate workforce opportunities, including programs,
sector partnerships, and job fairs.
• Plan and initiate the collaborative intern user group.
• Update and integrate various business lists as a data base.
• Widely communicate job fairs and similar activities.
• Investigate City needs and opportunities.
