The Golden Urban Renewal Authority (GURA) meets tonight at 6:30 in City Council Chambers. There are three Urban Renewal areas in Golden right now, and they’ll have a report on topics in each.
8th Street – the Confluence Companies (the ones who built the West 8th Apartments) are working on a partnership with the owners of the Briarwood Inn. They will describe the plans at tonight’s meeting.
West Colfax –Confluence Companies are also seeking to buy the property at Violet Street and W. Colfax (currently AAA-1 U Store It). They will also provide an update on their intentions with that property.
The developer of Gateway Village (where Avalanche Harley is located and a new hotel is under construction) has installed a large water tank. They are interested in having a mural painted on it, and may seek to share the cost with GURA and have the Public Art Commission help pick an artist.
Central Neighborhoods – The Jefferson County Housing Authority plans to build a low-income housing development on 24th Street between Ford and Jackson. They already own the land. They will show the plans to the GURA commission. Parts of the development are three stories tall, which presents a conflict with the request that residents have made, asking that buildings north of 24th Street not exceed two stories.
Learn more about any of these topics by reading the meeting packet…. The public is welcome to attend, and the meeting will be broadcast live through the City website.
Tuesday

The Railroad Museum will host their monthly Craft and Storytime (for 4-6 year olds) at 10AM.
Summer Programs
Many of the summer camps are fully booked at this point, but the Environmental Discovery Camps for 3rd through 6th graders still have some openings. This award-winning Jefferson County 4-H program focuses on environmental education and youth development, rather than recreation. Each day, the curriculum highlights unique environmental and social themes that guide learning. Science, math, history, drama, art and teamwork are woven into activities to meet diverse interests of young learners.
