There will be a Golden Beer Talk tomorrow night at Windy Saddle Cafe. Jason Hanson, co-author of A Ditch in Time: The City, The West, and Water, will discuss water in the west and the history of Denver Water. There is no admission and everyone is invited. Windy Saddle will be serving Bourbon BBQ Pulled Chicken Sandwiches and Green Apple Slaw. This month’s featured brewery is Cannonball Creek.
The GURA board meets tonight at 6:30 in the City Council Chamber. They will review this year’s budget. They will consider making some grant funding available to the new urban renewal districts (Colfax, the former bowling alley, and 8th Street). Steve Glueck will be named permanent Executive Director of GURA. They will discuss the legacy fund that GURA will be turning over to the newly-formed DDA (Downtown Development Authority). A developer continues to be interested in developing the two vacant lots on Jackson Street, on either side of the parking structure. The projects are delayed, in part, by ongoing study of the parking spaces that new buildings would require. They will discuss the planned repaving of Miners Alley and possible repaving of the lot between the Astor House and Meyer Hardware. Finally, they will discuss grant requests by 5 Star Gluten-Free Bakery (soon to be opened in the old dry cleaner on 12th St.) and the Golden Kiln.
