Gold, Townhouses, and Sustainability

Tonight at the Library, Mike Dempsey from the Lookout Mountain Nature Center will present “Colorado Gold: Star, Saga, and the South Platte.” Gold has played a central role in the development of Colorado’s Front Range, with fortunes gained and lost, towns founded and abandoned, and hillsides and streams altered irrevocably by our desire for this soft lustrous metal. It’s no exaggeration to say that much of the landscape we see today has been shaped one way or another by the desire for gold, which took hold in Colorado from 1858 onward. Take this golden opportunity to learn some fascinating history.  The program will run from 6-7.

The Planning Commission will be evaluating the proposed 12 townhouse development at 19th and Ford at 6:30 in City Council Chambers.  The Sustainability Board will meet in the City Council Conference room at 6:30.  They will recap last week’s Sustainability Night and discuss “Sustainability in All Actions,” which is a plan to integrate sustainability info City Council decisions.
