The Public Art Commission will meet at 9AM this morning in City Council Chambers. They will review the recent Artsweek Golden. Staff will report on the new sculpture that will be placed along Highway 93 at the north entrance to town. At 4PM, Ed Raines of the CSM Geology Museum will continue his lecture series (“ED Talks: Minerals Worth Sharing“) on Mining Districts of Colorado. The Golden Library is hosting the EPIC Egg Drop Challenge this afternoon from 5-7PM. Humpty Dumpty had a great fall…at the EPIC Egg Drop Challenge! Golden Library and the Golden Fire Department challenge you to show off your smarts to save a raw egg from a 50-foot tumble. The Golden History Museum is hosting a lecture: “The Kansas City Monarchs in Our Hometown,” by author/historian Phil S. Dixon. Most people have heard of Jackie Robinson, some have heard of Satchel Paige, and many have heard of the Kansas City Monarchs. Few know, however, how connected these men and their teams were to cities and communities all over America. The Kansas City Monarchs and their opponents changed modern sports and social history forever. Come learn about the unique history of African American baseball teams, stars, and games played in Golden. Register.
