The unusually warm weather in March has gotten many of us prematurely excited about gardening. This week has provided a timely reminder that it’s not actually flower-planting time yet; however this is a perfect time to study the xeriscape gardens available through the city’s garden-in-a-box program. Some of the gardens have already sold out, but the Sunset Garden (full sun), Seasons of Shade (partial shade), Pollinators’ Paradise (butterflies, bees, and birds), and Spaghetti Dinner (vegetables) are still available. Order now, while you can! The gardens will be delivered to Golden On Saturday, May 13th.

The Library is offering a FREE self-defense class for teens and adults this Sunday. This two-hour ranger designed program includes psychological and physical self-defense techniques. You’ll learn how to avoid and prevent unsafe situations and develop skills and techniques to physically protect yourself. Approximately 65% of this class involves participating in physical self-defense techniques. Please dress in comfortable workout attire and bring sufficient amounts of water. If you have weight lifting, biking or MMA gloves bring them to help protect your hands. Do not eat a large meal before class. Class size is limited; first come, first served. As of Wednesday morning, they still have 5 slots available. Register here.
The last Thursday of every month (including tomorrow, the 28th) the library offers a special interactive program for adults with disabilities. The library is more than a collection of books- it’s a place where everyone can learn, play and create! We welcome adults with disabilities and their caregivers to make crafts, create art, play games, explore the library, and enjoy music, Story Times, and guest speakers. Each program is tailored to the audience’s unique interests and ability levels. Limited space, groups welcome. Registration required online or call 303-235-5265. As of Wednesday morning, there are 4 slots available.
