The trip dates are Friday, September 28th through Sunday, September 30th. Click here to see the full itinerary!
Spark! on Sunday
Sunday morning (9/30) from 11-12, Foothills Art Center will be hosting Spark. In partnership with the Alzheimer’s Association of Colorado, Foothills Art Center offers opportunities for participants with mild memory loss and their care partners to enjoy our art exhibitions and object based learning and discussion. SPARK! programs provide interactive and engaging experiences in comfortable settings guided by trained docents and volunteers. This program is FREE to attend, but registration is REQUIRED. Please RSVP or call/email Maura McInerney at 720-299-8257 or maura@foothillsartcenter.org.
City Council will meet tonight at 6:30 in City Council Chambers. The Arc of Jefferson, Clear Creek, and Gilpin Counties will give a short presentation on the work they do to advocate for persons with intellectual and development disabilities.
Chief Bales will report on the Golden Fire Department‘s recent reclassification by the Insurance Service Office. Golden jumped from Class 5 to Class 4 in 2005, and this year we jumped up to Class 2! “Less than 4.5% of approximately 46,000 fire service agencies across the country earn a Class 1 or Class 2 rating.” Our new rating is expected to reduce the cost of property insurance in the City of Golden–way to go, Golden Fire Department!
(Note: If you’re interested in joining the Fire Department, consider attending their open house this Sunday from 11AM-2PM.)
The Finance Director will present the Capital Improvement Plan for 2019, and Council will hold a public hearing about it.
Council will consider awarding a $262,300 contract for a walkability project on Ulysses Street at South Golden Road.
The City recently discovered that when we built the South Golden Road roundabouts in 2000, the one at Ulysses strayed into property owned by Peerless Tyres and their gas station. They have negotiated with the owner to buy the property that the roundabout occupies for $29,000. There are more details, involving rights of way, easements, and vacations. To learn more about this or any of the other topics covered in tonight’s meeting, check the meeting packet.
