Front Porch, Astor House, Ragnasplosion, and Funiculars

Last Night’s Budget Discussion:
Supporters of the Front Porch–the seniors area at the Community Center–showed up in force once again and urged that funding be restored to support previous levels of programming. Council has asked both City Staff and the activist seniors to help clarify and quantify exactly what they need to fund and staff acceptable levels of service.

Last Night’s Astor House Discussion:
City Council instructed City Staff to hold off on doing anything else regarding the Astor House until we have a clearer idea of what to do with it. The public has been quite negative regarding the city’s plan to sell the building to a private entity, so Council will shelve that idea for now. The Historic Preservation Board will be leading efforts to safeguard the building and solicit community input regarding future public uses.
