Have you seen Foothills Art Center’s Beyond Words: Contemporary Book Art exhibit yet?  Today would be a good day to see it, because they will also have some of their jewelry designers visiting the museum shop.  Meet the jewelers and enjoy champagne and cupcakes from 11-2.  Museum members receive 25% off gift gallery purchases from now through March 22nd!  The Beyond Words exhibit will close on March 22nd.

You have two interesting lectures to choose from tomorrow, but you’ll need to pick which one to attend, since they both start at 2.

Foothills Art Center:  Presented by Alicia Bailey, owner of Abecedarian Gallery and jurist for Beyond Words: Contemporary Book Arts. Artists’ books can be full of surprises. They are interactive, flexible, richly textured, can be noisy when read, maybe even light up when opened. When they are seen online, or in exhibit catalogs or books, most of their special qualities are inaccessible. Even in when seen in exhibitions, the works are often in protective cases or do not invite touch. Bringing books from her own collection, or lent by the artists she represents, Alicia will give the audience a chance to experience select artists’ books ‘hands on’.  Sunday March 8th from 2-4.

Rocky Mountain Quilt Museum: Sunday at the Museum – Quilt for a Soldier Who Never Came Home.  A treasured heirloom with a sad story inspired Bob Bruce to embark on intense research into his family’s role in the Civil War. $10 per person includes museum admission and refreshments. RMQM members admitted free.   Sunday March 8th from 2-4.
