Food from Golden’s History and People for Golden’s Future

The Golden History Museum has pulled out all the stops for this Saturday’s Black & White Night. Their menu is inspired by Golden’s history. In memory of our early Cornish miners, they’re serving Cornish Pasties. In tribute to the malted milk that enable Coors to survive Prohibition, the dessert table will include Malted Milk Panna Cotta & Raspberry Gelee. For those who still pine after our long-time Spudnut shop (donuts made with potato flour), they’re serving–you guessed it–Spudnuts! Not forgetting the Jolly Rancher company that was born right under our Welcome Arch, they’ll have Jolly Rancher Stained Glass Sugar Cookies. Beverages will be provided by Golden Moon Distillery, Holidaily Brewing Company, and Miners Saloon.

Food isn’t the only reason to attend this year’s Black & White Night. Guests will have a chance to win fabulous prizes including a golf twosome at world-famous Fossil Trace Golf Club, lunch at Schnepf’s Restaurant, tickets to Miners Alley Playhouse, cocktails at Miners Saloon and Old Capitol Grill & Smokehouse and more! A limited number of tickets are still available. See you October 5th!

6:30PM The Leadership Golden Alumni Association is hosting the City Council Candidate Forum tonight in City Council Chambers. The event will be broadcast live on Cable Channel 8/880 and through the City’s website. I’m looking forward to hearing what they have to say! For more information, contact Bill McKee at wmckee@comcast.net.
