Five times a year–Memorial Day, Flag Day, 4th of July, Labor Day, and Veteran’s Day–hundreds of flags suddenly sprout up around Golden.  Do you ever wonder where all those flags come from?  The Golden Kiwanis Club (which was chartered in 1921) and Golden Boy Scout Troop 130 (which was chartered in 1962) post them as a service project.

For $30/year, you can have a flag placed at your home or business on holidays.  The Kiwanis will place a piece of plastic pipe near the front edge of your property.  The Boy Scouts will put the flag up early in the morning and take it down at dusk.  The flag is on a 10-foot aluminum pole and the flag is 3′ x 5′.

The Kiwanis use half of the subscription money to buy new flags and poles.  The other half goes to sponsor scout camp.  A Scout who works three of the five holidays in the course of the year earns enough to go to camp.  Use this subscription form to sign up now!
