The Golden Chamber of Commerce staff is busy year-round, but today marks the beginning of the season where they give up sleeping entirely.
Tonight, from 5 to 9, they will host our first street fair of the season. Washington Avenue will be closed off between 12th and 13th Street. Local restaurants will have booths at which they serve $4 “tastes.” Tonight’s vendors will be the Buffalo Rose, El Callejon, Three Tomatoes Steakhouse, Blue Canyon Grill, Panino’s Sandwich and Bakery, and Golden Sweets. Coors beer will also be available for $4 per draft. Family friendly entertainment will include a mobile rock climbing wall, a magician, a puppet show, free horse-drawn carriage rides, and live music. Most of the stores will be running specials during the street fair, and Spirits in the Wind Gallery will have a guest artist and wine tasting. Princess the Pony will be visiting at Silver Horse, and Baby Doe’s will encourage young artists to draw her.
Several downtown businesses will be celebrating grand openings or relocations during the street fair (and these events are also hosted by the Chamber).
Tomorrow morning the same crew will be up with the dawn to set up our first Farmers Market of the year. The Farmers Market will be open at 10th and Illinois from 8-10.
Come downtown and have fun–and thank a Chamber staffer!
