City Council meets tonight at 6:30 in City Council Chambers, and they have a packed agenda. The Mayor will issue a proclamation celebrating the School of Mines’ April 7th “Helluva Service Event.”
They will hold a public hearing on a change to the municipal code which will reduce the required lot frontage for a duplex from 60 feet to 50 feet. This is to permit building of smaller residences with the hope that they will be more affordable. They are also removing a paragraph requiring that multi-unit dwellings of more than two units have at least 75 feet of frontage.
They will vote on whether to approve two Historic Site Designations in the Goosetown neighborhood–the Boutwell Residence at 514 9th Street and the Durham Tobacco Barn Mural, also at 514 9th Street.
They will consider a bunch of changes to the city code regarding parking regulations and enforcement. The City manager will appoint someone to serve as Traffic Magistrate, to hold hearings on parking violations.
They will consider an ordinance prohibiting the use of air compression brakes within the City.
They will discuss various changes to the traffic code, including provisions regarding texting while driving, “rolling coal” exhaust systems, passing safely around parked emergency and utility vehicles, and leaving a running car unattended.
They will set fines and fees for parking violations.
As always, see the online meeting packet for details on any of these items.
