Feedback, 4-H, STEM, and Grants

You like us!
Thanks to everyone who responded to our 10th Anniversary survey about What’s Happening in Golden last week.  Our audience appreciates hearing what city council, boards, and commissions are working on, though one response said we were too “anti-progress.”  People find the coverage of community events to be “about right.”  They like learning more about businesses, but sometimes would like more notice on events.  96% said they would refer the site/daily posts to a friend.  One person remarked that they would like more coverage of the school schedule.  See the complete list of results.

Tonight
Jeffco kids ages 5-18 are invited to attend the annual Jeffco 4-H Open House tonight (Monday 10/16 from 6-8:30) at the Jeffco Fairgrounds. Volunteer 4-H leaders and current club members will be available to answer questions about the various programs offered for youth. For more information on 4-H enrollment, contact CSU Extension Agent Barbie Garnett at 303-271-6620 or bgarnett@jeffco.us. Learn more….

The library is hosting STEM Girls this afternoon from 4-5PM. This fun celebration of science, technology, engineering, and math is open to girls of all ages. This event is led by Bell Middle School’s Girls in iSTEM Club.

The Downtown Development Authority meets tonight at 6:30 in City Council Chambers. They will vote on whether to approve a sign grant request from Connects Workspace, a TIF reimbursment agreement with the Buffalo Rose, and extending the contract to install the holiday lights. They will discuss whether to provide a grant to the Environmental Film Festival. On the one hand, such events bring a lot of people downtown and therefore support downtown businesses; on the other the DDA doesn’t want to provide repeat grants because they want events to be self-sustaining.  See their full meeting packet….
