Events for Toddlers, Wine-Lovers, Worriers, Runners, and City Business Groupies

A note to my readers: I often hear from readers who think “What’s Happening in Golden?” is produced or sponsored by the City of Golden. Nothing could be further from the truth. I write this blog because I like to know what’s happening in my community, and I find that many others do too. I promote local businesses because people like to hear about things to do, and because it’s good for the local economy. I promote Golden’s cultural organizations because I think they’re essential to the quality of life in Golden and they’re vastly under-appreciated. I tell people what the City boards and commissions are doing because I think it’s far better to know about change before decisions are made, while there’s still time to weigh in on them. I write about Golden history because I find it interesting.

I have some small-ish sponsorship and advertising revenue, but the production, hosting, and maintenance costs far exceed the income–it costs me several thousand dollars a year to produce What’s Happening in Golden. I do it because I enjoy it.

I write another daily email–Golden Business News. That one focuses on a single Golden business every day. The City does sponsor that one, as a way to support local businesses. (See the Golden Business News archive if you want to see typical posts.) People really enjoy that email too, so if you don’t subscribe, I wish you would! You can sign up on this page, or send me a note, asking to be subscribed: .

Thanks for following What’s Happening in Golden?. I always enjoy hearing from readers, so contact me any time: barb@goldentoday.com or 303-278-2701.

Now that the weather is clearing and the trails are drying, New Terrain Brewing is restarting their Run Club. Let’s hit the trails! Join us for Monday Night Run Club! We meet every Monday for a nice trail run anywhere between 2-6 miles long. All skill levels are welcome. Join us at the brewery (map), we’ll depart at 6:15pm for a social run, at your own pace. Waiting at all intersections, we’ll weave our way up North Table and back to the brewery. Bring trail running shoes and water. See you there!

The Golden Urban Renewal Authority (GURA) meets tonight in City Council Chambers. They will discuss ways for GURA to help fund affordable housing. The City is expecting to receive a building permit application for a large storage project in Gateway Village (the GURA district that includes Origin Red Rocks hotel). They expect to receive a building permit application for the hotel and the first residential building on 8th Street (in the Parfet/Briarwood GURA district).
