Colorado Railroad Museum - Golden CO

Last night, the Colorado Railroad Museum celebrated the recent gift of an original oil painting by Howard Fogg, a highly-regarded railroad artist. Fogg was a great friend of Leanin’ Tree founder Ed Trumble, and created many paintings that were used as greeting cards. Most of the Leanin’ Tree Western Art collection was auctioned off earlier this year, but Mr. Trumble retained this one so he could give it to the Colorado Railroad Museum.  Mr. Trumble told the group of his long-friendship with Mr. Fogg, which started over their interest in each other’s military careers.  Fogg was a fighter pilot during WWII and Trumble was with the infantry during the Battle of the Bulge.

Foothills Art Center’s Housing exhibit, “Finding Home,” will be leaving on July 8th. The Charles E. Burchfield exhibit, “Resounding Roar,” runs until July 28th. Tonight from 5:30-6:30 Executive Director Hassan Najjar will lead an interactive discussion on selected works in the exhibit. This is free for Foothills Art Center members. Non-members pay regular admission.

Tonight from 6-7PM, the Golden History Museum is hosting a viewing of Colorado Experience: Amusements. This 27 minute show recounts the history of Colorado’s amusement parks, including Elitch Gardens, Lakeside, and Santa’s Workshop. Afterwards, an expert will tell us more about the history of Amusement Parks in Colorado–including Golden’s own Heritage Square. Learn more and register….

The timing of this talk is poignant, in that the last remnant of Heritage Square–the amusement park–is scheduled to close permanently this Saturday at 7PM.
