Golden Volunteer Opportunities:
There are several events coming up that could use some volunteers:
Stamp Out Hunger: Saturday, May 11 is the Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive that is sponsored by the National Association of Letter Carriers. In the Golden area, all the food collected by the Golden Letter Carriers comes to our CAG Food Bank that serves those in need of food assistance in Golden. For many years we have partnered with the Golden Lions Club, community volunteers, students from GHS and Mines and our volunteers to process this donated food. In the past few years from this food drive we have received about 25,000 pounds of food in just a few hours. Each item must be inspected for dates and dents and shelved quickly so that when we finish at the end of the day, our food bank can be ready for our clients to get their monthly food. We need lots of volunteers (age 12 and up) from 3-7PM to help us. Please email us at amandaliao14@gmail.com, or kfurtak3572@gmail.com or call C.A.G. at 303-279-5674 to let us know if you can help! Optimists Bike Shop: The Golden Optimists bicycle recycle shop at 1200 Johnson Road will be open Saturday May 4 and Saturday June 1 from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. to encourage potential new volunteers to find out about this non-profit program and volunteer opportunities. Experienced bike mechanics are an obvious fit, but the program also needs and welcomes a variety of skills and interests for many aspects of the program. Learn more about the program at GoldenOptimsists.org. Please stop by and visit the shop.
The Wright: The Wright, a 3-day summit and award program illuminating the industry and culture of the outdoors returns April 29- May 2, to Golden, Colorado. Featuring a 3-part series of lunch-hour keynote conversations and a dozen afternoon panel discussions; all free and open to the public. There will also be Golden Night, on Wednesday, May 1, a free walkabout throughout downtown Golden celebrating art, culture, and the outdoors! The Wright culminates in the 8th annual Award Night celebration on Thursday, May 2, recognizing thirteen outdoor-inspired entrepreneurs from the Rocky Mountain region, including Golden’s own, Holidaily Brewing Company! To register to attend the free events and to purchase a ticket to Award night visit The Wright website. VOLUNTEERS: We are also looking for dependable volunteers Monday, April 29th through Friday, May 3rd to help with set up, execution and breakdown of The Wright. Please sign up here for a volunteer opportunity that works for your schedule or contact Caitlyn (cpgeorger@gmail.com) with any questions you might have!
