Yesterday I said that the Mines Ore Cart Pull would end at the capitol. Apparently they’ve changed the terminus this year. This was on the Mines Facebook page: The route may change, but the tradition remains! The ore cart pull route is still starting our usual point along Colfax, but we will be walking to the Decatur-Federal Light Rail Station near Mile High Stadium. The Ore Cart Pull Ceremony will take place at the light rail station! Thank you all for participating and thank you MAC (Mines Activities Council) for working so hard to make this happen!
According to the E-Days App, there will be a Tesla Coil demonstration in Bunker Auditorium in the Green Center on the Mines Campus from 1:30-3. The Field Day events (2:30-5 on the Intermural Field) will include traditional E-Days events from the past, and mining games including swede sawing, mucking, and panning. The Trebuchet Contest takes place in Q Lot from 2:30-5.cc
Tomorrow’s E-Day events include the Cardboard Boat Race on Clear Creek from 9-noon. There will be a car show in the CTLM Lot from 9-1. They’ll have a Carnival from noon-3 in the IM Fields. The fireworks will start at about 9:40 Saturday night. If you’ve never attended a Mines fireworks display, you should go. They are the noisiest fireworks you will ever experience! In homage to their mining heritage, they use a lot of dynamite.
