Jefferson County’s case count page says that as of 4PM yesterday, there were 753 (up from 704) “confirmed, probable, suspected, or under investigation” cases in Jefferson County. There have been 27 deaths (up from 25) and 185 are hospitalized (up from 175). There are 67 known cases in Golden (up from 64). If you want to see the growth in graphic format, here you go:
One of my readers asked me to state again that in this case, “Golden” includes all of the Golden mailing addresses (not just residents within the City limits), so there are 67 cases out of a population of 60,000, rather than 20,000.
The State-Wide Stay-at-Home Order is in effect through April 26, 2020. Everyone is asked to wear a mask that covers the nose and mouth when leaving the house. City and County fire restrictions are in place. Clear Creek is closed to all recreational activities.
One of the most insightful memes that I’ve been seeing on Facebook says this: “Our grandparents lived through the Depression and World War II. We’re being asked to sit on the couch and watch Netflix. We can do this.” I know that not everyone has the option of staying home, but if you can, please do. Consider it a patriotic duty.

Golden History Moment
The State Industrial School opened in 1881. The School was built with capacity for 50 students/inmates. There were only three boys there when the School opened. Their ages were 6, 8, and 14. Here’s an interesting fact: when the school opened, parents, as well as courts, could commit boys to the school.
