The Downtown Development Authority meets tonight at 6:30 in City Council Chambers.  They recently paid $18,000 to have the holiday lights removed.  The Jefferson Symphony is requesting $5K to fund their annual concert in Parfet Park at the close of the Fine Arts Festival.  Foothills Art Center has requested $2K to help promote an upcoming exhibition.  Spinster Sisters is requesting $1275.62 as a facade improvement grant.  They want to build two large planters outside their shop.  The DDA will consider a proposal from the sustainability board to foster recycling at downtown commercial properties.  They will discuss improvements to the sidewalk near El Dorado Mexican Restaurant, on 8th Street, to improve “connectivity” from the new 8th Street apartments and condos to downtown.

Speaking of new condos and apartments, check out the brief slide show that I made for the Golden history class that I’m teaching with Gene Child.  It shows the growth of Golden, both geographically and in population, since 1940:  golden.com/growth.
