Daylight Savings Time ends tonight, so remember to set your clocks back, change the batteries in your smoke alarms, and get ready for long evenings.
If you love craft sales, today is your lucky day.
9AM-3PM Holiday Craft & Bake Sale – Golden Terrace Village (map)
The Holiday Craft & Bake Sale features a wide variety of homemade crafts, baked and canned goods. There will be original art work, handmade jewelry, handcrafted aprons, dish towels, pot holders, dish cloths, handmade infinity scarves, custom-embroidered pieced, handmade wooden bins, and vintage and antique items to name just a few. Come support your local artists and craftsmen while enjoying homemade baked goods, out-of-this-world hot dogs, and a festive opportunity to meet your neighbors! Sale takes place in the community club house. Get an early start on your holiday shopping! For more information contact Jan Johnston at 402-960-0772.
10AM-4PM 35th Annual Holiday Craft Fair – First United Methodist Church (map)
Over 20 vendors with crafts of all kinds (i.e., crocheted/knit items, jewelry, Christmas decor, photographs, cards, etc.), delicious home-baked goods, and a roomful of used treasures for your shopping pleasure. Lunch available for purchase both days 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
10AM I just learned about this: today is National Learn to Homebrew day. If you’d like to learn the basics, the Pizanos at 907 11th St. (map) say “Come on over! Two beers will be brewed on site and we can answer any questions you may have, including how to brew, what equipment you need to start, plus more. We will have homebrewed and commercial beers on tap (Bierstadt’s Slow Pour Pils).” They’ll start at 10AM. Questions? Call 786-427-7999.
10AM-1PM Haunted Physics Lab
Every year, the Society of Physics Students holds a Haunted Physics Lab, with members demonstrating various experiments in the spirit of Halloween. Coorstek Center, 1523 Illinois Street (map)
3PM Coffee with Councilors Saoirse Charis-Graves and Casey Brown at Cafe 13 (map) This monthly event is a great opportunity to learn what the City has planned. The hot topic for much of the next year is likely to be the new property that we’ve purchased in Goosetown and what to do with the Coors office building–use it as a municipal center, convert it into affordable housing, or tear it down and start anew.
4-9PM Night at the Museum Dino Ridge (map)
Bring your flashlights and headlamps to enjoy and explore Dinosaur Ridge Trail at night. Hop on a shuttle and view the Ridge, dinosaur tracks, and the surrounding area by flashlight. This limited event is open to all who aren’t afraid of the dark and who love dinosaurs! Tickets ($6 adult/$4 kids) will be sold onsite, the day of and can also be reserved online. Register.
