Back in 2018, I wrote several times about the 100th anniversary of the 1918 Influenza epidemic. A lot of the public service announcements from that era implored people to stop spitting. That must have been a pretty common practice at the time…clear evidence that the world is now a better place. If you’re interested in reviewing the Spanish Influenza articles, visit my Random Finds from the Colorado Transcript page.

And on behalf of Councilor Jim Dale, who spent a career working in Public Health: WASH YOUR HANDS AND DON’T TOUCH YOUR FACE!

6:30PM Heart of Golden 2020 Refining Workshop in City Council Chambers. The City held “Visioning Workshops” for the public in January and February. In those, the public was invited to express their wildest dreams of how to “remodel” the creek front–where to put new city buildings, whether the entire length through town should be a big park, whether we want to make it more of a tourist draw, if we should build new city buildings, whether there should be businesses (like restaurants) along the creek, etc. Tonight we’ll see how the planners put all of those ideas together. In May and June, they’ll tell us how much it will cost. This fall, they will probably put something on the ballot, asking the taxpayers to fund the re-imagined Creek.
