City Council will meet tomorrow night at 6:30 in City Council Chambers. The Communications Manager will present the year 2014 in review. This generally takes the form of a fun video. Council will also vote on whether to limit the length of City Council meetings.
During the Study Session following the meeting, representatives from the Golden Urban Renewal Authority and the Downtown Development Authority will discuss their accomplishments from last year and goals from the coming year. As of the end of 2014, GURA has finished its 25 year mission to revive downtown. Responsibility for maintaining downtown now falls to the Downtown Development Authority. A substantial sum of money passed from GURA to the DDA to help them in that task. GURA is now moving on to other parts of the city. They have small projects on 8th Street and at 24th & East Street, plus a potentially very large one in the Colfax corridor.
The final topic of the night is a plan to empower the City Manager, rather than elected officials or their appointees, to decide all grant requests received by the city.
The meeting will be broadcast live on cable channel 8 and on the City website.
