Cold Weather, Creativity, and Crab Legs

Guess What? The Jefferson County Colorado Master Gardeners have issued a frost warning:  “If you purchased and/or planted tender annuals like impatiens, coleus, and veggies like tomatoes and peppers, they should be protected from the cold the next few nights.”  Here’s how….

Here’s the good news:  the cold, gray weather is finally coming to an end.  The extended forecast says it will be sunny and in the 70s by this weekend, and will stay that way for a while.

If your kids are creative (or you want them to be), take them to DIY Kids at the Library this afternoon from 4-5.  Come join us 5/18/2016 for a special activity. Create with celery, artsy artichokes and lovely lemons. Learn to do printmaking with fruits and veggies! Join us in the library laboratory and experiment with some food!  Suitable for ages 6-11.  Contact Lauren Reed 303-235-5275 for more information.

If you’re creative (or you want to be), visit the Library’s DIY Lab tomorrow between 5:30 and 7:30.  They’ll have lots of tools available, from sewing machines to soldering irons.  Make something!  The lab is open to all ages, but kids 12 and under should have an adult with them.

Do you have your tickets to the Living Landmarks Dinner yet?  If not, it’s time to GET THEM!  The dinner is this Friday.  They will be honoring Jerry Hodgden (21 years on the Parks & Rec Board), Ed Dorsey (GURA, DDA, Lions Club, and everything else in town), and the Golden Transcript, which is celebrating 150 YEARS this year!  It’s a fun event, the company is marvelous, and the food is great (unlimited crab leg buffet at Mount Vernon Country Club)!  Buy tickets here.
