Pictures, Produce, Politics, Palm Fronds, Pontiacs, and a Pig Roast

Dave Powers got some nice pictures of last night’s First Friday Street Fair. View them on our Facebook page.

Councilor Saoirse Charis-Graves will be at Bean Fosters this morning from 10-11 to talk to constituents about any questions or concerns they have regarding Golden.

Our first Farmers Market of the year runs this morning from 8-1.  We have lots of new vendors lined up this year, so be sure you stop by to discover all the new options!  The best place to park is in the long line of spots on 11th Street, by the Clear Creek History Park.  Just walk across the pedestrian bridge from there to the Farmers Market!.

Be sure you stop by the library between 10 and 12 if you haven’t yet signed the Jeffco5 Petition.  The organizers want to put an issue on the ballot that would give us five county commissioners instead of three, elected at large.

This is the perfect day to walk the Triceratops Trail, a hiking path that runs along the west side of Fossil Trace Golf Course.  This trail winds between large, vertical walls of sandstone and into reclaimed clay pits. Guides will be one the trail between 10 and 2 to explain the geology and fossils. Highlights of the trail include dinosaur, bird, mammal, insect and invertebrate tracks and traces, clay mining remnants, as well as several walls full of plant impressions from the tree-lined delta-like environment.

Golden Pond Retirement Community is holding their annual car show today, beginning at 11, and the community is warmly invited to attend.  In addition to the great cars, they’ll have face painting and barbecue.

This is a Golden Super Cruise Saturday, so head to South Golden Road to admire hundreds of classic cars!  The official cruise runs from 5-9, but the cars start arriving well before noon.  If you’re in a hurry and aren’t interested in the cars, use Johnson Road to bypass South Golden Road.

If you’re interested in Electric Vehicles, this is your lucky day.  A contingent of electric cars are participating in today’s Super Cruise, and they’ll be congregating in the Golden Real Estate parking lot, 17695 S. Golden Road.  This will be a good chance to see a bunch of electric vehicles and talk to their owners, to see how they like them!

The American Legion (at 500 9th St.) is holding their annual pig roast today from 3-7, and the community is very much invited.  They’ll have lots of food and two bands.  The $15 admission goes to support our troops at home and abroad.  Kids 10 and under eat free.  Call 303-279-6200 for more information.

If you’re looking for more things to do, check the calendar for the things that I left out!
