City Council meets tonight at 6:30 in City Council chambers.  They will conduct public hearings prior to voting on several issues.  If you want to weigh in on any of the following issues, go to the meeting or send them an email:

  • Renewing the marketing agreement, wherein the city keeps a certain percentage of the “vendors fee” for use in marketing the city to attract tourists.  The vendors fee is a rebate that merchants could receive if they remit their sales tax promptly.  Several years ago, Golden’s merchants requested that the city use this money to set up a marketing program, which is currently called “Visit Golden.”
  • Rezoning a section of the Bachman property to allow them to build 8 duplexes.  Note that this is not the property that the City has acquired as park land.  It is adjacent to that property.
  • Approving a re-plat for 20001 Golden Gate Canyon Road.  That area will be developed as a senior living community.
  • Selecting a new trash and recycling service provider.

They will also discuss the type and amount of input that council wants to have regarding the city budget.  Currently, city staff creates a budget and council responds to it.  Council may choose to submit a policy document to city staff prior to their creation of a budget, to ensure that the budget reflects Council’s current priorities.

Visit the Agenda page and review the meeting packet for more details on any of these issues.  The meeting will be broadcast live on cable channel 8 and streamed live through the city website.
