City Council meets tonight at 6:30 in City Council Chambers. They will vote to approve a $270,803.79 contract to Happel & Associates to remodel the Police Department. A representative from Foothills Art Center will report on their Finding Home exhibit, which dealt with problems of housing shortages and homelessness. They will consider a change to our anti-smoking ordinance, which would then include references to marijuana and specifically ban smoking in the parking garages.
Council will consider a proposal by the Mayor that would allow 16 and 17 year olds to vote in municipal elections in Golden. The rationale for doing this would be to encourage them to become life-long voters. The counter-argument is that the city would bear more of the cost of having elections, since our process would differ from the rest of the county’s. Council will discuss the pros and cons.
The Community & Economic Development Director will report on a Wayfinding Project, which would unify and improve directional signage around town. Review the meeting packet to learn more about any of these topics….
