City Council meets tonight at 6:30 in City Council Chambers. They will conduct a public hearing regarding potential waste/recycling contractors. A second public hearing will held on June 25th, and contractor will be selected at that time. Mayor Sloan will announce the names of finalist candidates for the City Manager position. See the agenda/meeting packet for details.
A study session will follow, during which the historic preservation board and planning commission will present their annual goals to council. City staff will present the results of a study regarding the feasibility of establishing a bike share program. The meeting will be broadcast live on cable channel 8 and streamed live through the city website.
The bookmobile will not be in the library parking lot tonight, because the library RE-OPENS THIS WEEKEND! The Golden Library will be open 10AM-5PM this Saturday, and noon-5 on Sunday. The official grand opening will be Sunday, and on that day we’ll have our belated “REaD Carpet” affair to celebrate the summer reading program. Kids and teens will receive a free book and prize pack upon sign up (while supplies last). Kids can go on a scavenger hunt for book celebrities, bling out a set of glasses, race with an egg and a spoon, and much more. Teens can test their engineering skills as they build a paper rollercoaster.
Speaking of the Summer Reading Program…the Jeffco Libraries set a goal that participants would read 1 million minutes this summer. Well HA! In the first week, we broke the 2 million minute mark! The new goal for the summer is 10 million reading minutes!
