The Local Licensing Authority meets Wednesday afternoon (4/27) at 2:30 in City Council Chambers. Several new liquor licenses are under consideration, including two wineries that want to sell at the Golden Farmers Market. A new business, called Bikes & Beers, hopes to open at 710 Golden Ridge Road. The new day spa opening in the old Montessori School at 714 Cheyenne St. is also applying for a liquor license. The Sustainability Board meets Wednesday night (4/27) at 6:30 in City Council Chambers. They will discuss downtown recycling, energy policy support for City Council, and a proposed solar garden at the Rooney Road sports complex. Learn more….

City Council meets Thursday night (4/28) at 6:30 in City Council Chambers. One of their consent items (considered non-controversial, and not requiring discussion) involves refusing a $200,000 grant from the state historical society for the Astor House restoration. They will also appoint the new director of Foothills Art Center to the Public Art Commission. They will read several proclamations, for First Responders Appreciation Day, National Police Week, Mental Health Month, National Small Business Week, and National Travel & Tourism Month. They will announce the new appointments to the City’s boards & commissions. They will hear from a woman who hopes to start a children’s museum in the Golden area. The regular meeting will be followed by a study session, in which they will discuss the North Ford Street Traffic Calming project and the proposed combined (with other cities) dispatch center.
