Downtown Golden - Late '70s/Early '80s - Click to enlarge

The October 30, 1980 Golden Transcript mentioned a survey that the City's Planning Department had sent to 2000 residents. Early responses included the following comments:

  • Golden should hold bake sales rather than levy taxes
  • Golden needs facelifting.
  • The power structures of Adolph Coors Co and Colorado School of Mines are too great.
  • Too many dogs are running loose.
  • City should be renamed Golden Coors Town.
  • Golden is being spoiled by junkie development.
  • City officials are allowing a few developers to have almost anything they want.
  • Golden has excellent services.

Many thanks to an anonymous donor for sponsoring Golden History Moments for the month of October.
