Chili II, Geology, and City Council

chili-beer-supper

First of all, as many people wrote to tell me, I gave the wrong date for the Lions Club Chili Supper in yesterday’s post.  The correct date is Saturday, January 23rd, 2-7PM, at the Golden Masonic Building, 400 10th St.  Map  Get it on your calendar, because it sounds like a lot of fun–free chili and $5 pints of beer from Mountain Toad, Golden City Brewery, and Barrels & Bottles.

Tomorrow night (Thursday the 7th), the Friends of the Colorado School of Mines Geology Museum’s First Thursday lecture series continues:  7 PM at the Geology Museum, 1310 Maple Street.  This month’s topic is “The Skyrocketing Prices for Minerals” by Marty Zinn.  Socializing and munchies begin at 6:00 p.m.; the talk will start at 7:00 p.m. Admission is free and all are welcome.

The new City Council will be seated tomorrow night.  Marcie Miller will be ending her tenure, Casey Brown will be moving into her job, and Saoirse Charis-Graves and Marjorie Sloan will begin their second terms.  There will be a reception ahead of the meeting, beginning at 5:30, to congratulate and thank all of them.
