This is the last day of the Spring Whale of a Used Book Sale at the Fairgrounds. What’s more–this is bag day! Get a full bag of books, DVDs, and CDs for only $6. The sale is open from 11AM to 3PM today, and I can tell you from past experience that they start packing up early. All proceeds of this sale benefit the Jefferson County Libraries.
The Buffalo Bill Museum is starting a series of special programs, featuring historic interpreters Javan and Susan Ridge as Buffalo Bill and Louisa Cody. They will give a series of 20 minute presentations starting today and continuing on June 10, July 8 and 22, August 26, and September 2. Today’s programs include:
1 and 3PM: Buffalo Bill on the Stage with Texas Jack and Wild Bill
2 and 4PM: Lulu describes Life with Buffalo Bill
The museum is also hosting two authors this afternoon from 2-4PM. Steve Friesen, the former museum director, will discuss his book, Lakota Performers in Europe: Their Culture and the Artifacts They Left Behind. Joe Debrow will discuss his book, Pioneers of Promotion: How Press Agents for Buffalo Bill, P.T. Barnum, and the World’s Columbian Exposition Created Modern Marketing.
The Railroad Museum is offering rides 4 days a week–Thursday through Sunday–all summer. Catch a ride behind one of the Museum’s steam or diesel locomotives in passenger cars from different eras in Colorado railroad history or on one of the unique Rio Grande Southern “Galloping Goose” Motorcars daily Thursdays-Sundays all summer long. Grounds & exhibits open 9AM to 5PM. Rides operate 10AM to 2PM (4PM Saturdays).
