There’s an interesting event occurring this weekend at the Jeffco Fairgrounds. It’s the first annual Off-Grid Expo. They have more than 60 vendors coming to demonstrate products that will enable you to go “off the grid,” including vehicles and RVs, sporting gear, batteries, self-reliance products, and vehicle upgrades to help you leave the grid. BassPro will be there with an archery course (Saturday and Sunday only), and the Colorado Mountain Club will have their climbing bus there. You can also try out an ebike. They’ll have live music and food trucks and a good time will be had by all! The are open today from 12-6PM, tomorrow from 10AM-6PM, and Sunday from 10AM-5PM. 4:30PM – Hard to believe, but Golden Pond Retirement Community is 15 years old! The Golden Chamber will help them celebrate with a ribbon cutting ceremony at 4:30 this afternoon.
7PM – The Colorado Railroad Museum is hosting Colorado Rails and Cocktails this evening. It’s a good program to start getting you into a Halloween state of mind. Using newspaper, letters, journals and oral history accounts, Steve Patterson takes a closer look at some of the strange and horrific events surrounding the people, places and railroad tracks of Colorado.
Relax, have a beverage, and travel back to a time when railroads shaped the American West. Admission: $20 for members and $25 for non-members. 21 and older only. Admission includes two beverages of your choice: beer, wine or soda and snacks.
