Clear Creek Room:  The Heart of Golden
Surrounded by North and South Table Mountains, Clear Creek has drawn people to this area for millennia. 

We Are Still Here:  The Endurance of Native Jewels
In this exhibit, we define jewel as both a precious item as well as a woman of strength and importance. Explore how Indigenous women have persevered through hundreds of years of oppression and numerous attempts to destroy their culture. Featuring modern Native fashions that utilize ancient Indigenous jewels, learn about prominent Native women in contemporary American society. Not only are Native Americans still here; they have endured, and they are thriving.

Discovery Awaits:  Indigenous Connections, Epic Events, Legendary People, andthe Touch Gallery. A new Jolly Rancher exhibit is in the works and will open in2025.

The Salon:  Golden High School 150th Anniversary Exhibit 

Golden History Park (11th & Arapahoe):  The outdoor setting re-creates the look and feel of a late 1800's mountain ranch complete with gardens, a working blacksmith shop, schoolhouse and chicken coop (chickens included).

The main floor exhibits feature specimens from many Colorado mining districts, other global localities and an introductory video on area geology. The Special Exhibit Room hosts prominent precious metal and invited displays. The main gallery also showcases historic mining murals by Irwin Hoffman.

The basement contains numerous exhibits regarding radioactivity, fossils, basic geology, gemstones, meteorites, ultraviolet minerals and underground mining illumination. The outdoor geologic trail features seven outcrops with various geologic and paleontological points of interest, including fossilized dinosaur tracks, logs and leaves.

Wheel Throwing

This class is designed for the beginner, as well as intermediate and advanced students. Students must be 18 years of age or older. The basics of throwing on the wheel will be covered as well as use of equipment, safety and management of materials. Instructors will work with individual students at the student’s level, Beginner, Intermediate or Advanced. Students are also encouraged to explore their own creativity. This class provides use of studio equipment and firing of work made during class or lab/open studio.

This class meets for eight weeks on January 9th, 16th, 23rd, and 30th, February 6th, 13th, 20th, and 27th

Intro to Portraits in Watercolor

When: 2-4PM
Where: Foothills Art Center, 809 15th Street, Golden, CO

Learn the basics of painting the human face in watercolor in this four week class. Students are given step by step instruction on anatomy, drawing and painting the human face. Features of the face such as eye, nose and lips are drawn and then painted. Proportion and proper placement of features are emphasized. Multiple watercolor techniques and color mixing strategies are utilized. In addition to being an artist, Pam is also a physician and uses her expertise of anatomy to create beautiful portraits.

This class meets for four weeks on January 9th, 16th, 23rd, and 30th

REDI Task Force Meeting

The REDI (Race, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion) Task Force is composed of community members and city staff who have a key role in implementing aspects of the REDI Action Plan, finalized by the City in November of 2022.

The Task Force focuses on promoting accountability for implementing the REDI Action Plan and coordinating community-wide efforts to advance equity.

The task force meets monthly in Council Chambers (911 10th St.) on the first Thursday of the month from 4:30 to 6 p.m. The public is welcome to attend.

Intro to Pattern Drafting - Draft a Basic Sloper

This is a three-series Thursday evening class introducing you to the basics of pattern drafting. We will cover terminology, drafting principles, tools, and measurements and then draft your personal basic body sloper that you can use to draft garments patterns or to alter commercial garment patterns to fit you.
