Clear Creek Room: The Heart of Golden
Surrounded by North and South Table Mountains, Clear Creek has drawn people to this area for millennia.
We Are Still Here: The Endurance of Native Jewels
In this exhibit, we define jewel as both a precious item as well as a woman of strength and importance. Explore how Indigenous women have persevered through hundreds of years of oppression and numerous attempts to destroy their culture. Featuring modern Native fashions that utilize ancient Indigenous jewels, learn about prominent Native women in contemporary American society. Not only are Native Americans still here; they have endured, and they are thriving.
Discovery Awaits: Indigenous Connections, Epic Events, Legendary People, andthe Touch Gallery. A new Jolly Rancher exhibit is in the works and will open in2025.
The Salon: Golden High School 150th Anniversary Exhibit
Golden History Park (11th & Arapahoe): The outdoor setting re-creates the look and feel of a late 1800's mountain ranch complete with gardens, a working blacksmith shop, schoolhouse and chicken coop (chickens included).

The main floor exhibits feature specimens from many Colorado mining districts, other global localities and an introductory video on area geology. The Special Exhibit Room hosts prominent precious metal and invited displays. The main gallery also showcases historic mining murals by Irwin Hoffman.
The basement contains numerous exhibits regarding radioactivity, fossils, basic geology, gemstones, meteorites, ultraviolet minerals and underground mining illumination. The outdoor geologic trail features seven outcrops with various geologic and paleontological points of interest, including fossilized dinosaur tracks, logs and leaves.

Fall Yard Waste Collection
When: All day
Where: Golden, CO
For residents who participate in the Pay as You Throw (PAYT) program, take note – the semi-annual yard waste collection occurs on your normal service day! This year, Fall collection days will take place the week of November 4-8.
Yard Waste Collection Days happen twice a year – once in the spring and once in the fall. Yard Wastes will be collected by a separate truck on your designated trash collection day and should be placed near where your trash is collected by 7 a.m. Material may be placed in your organics cart, bundled, or in certified compostable bags available for purchase at The Home Depot and other home improvement stores. Yard Waste for this collection is limited to grass clippings, pine needles, leaves, weeds, branches, sawdust, ground or chipped wood.

DeLong Park Weedbusters

Golden Parks and Recreation is using DeLong Park as a pilot project for the City’s first organic park location. This means that they will be using only natural, organic products for all plants and grasses. No synthetic chemicals will be used in our maintenance practices.
A group of weed-busting volunteers meets weekly at DeLong Park on Thursday mornings from 10:00 a.m. to noon to weed out invasive species. Interested community members can join the group.
The DeLong Park Weed Busters are always happy to bring in new members, and training on weed identification is provided!
Storybook Tour

The first Tuesday of every month in 2024, join us for an ALL-NEW activity: the Storybook Tour! Intended for young children and their parents, the tour starts at 10:00 a.m. and lasts approximately 45 minutes. Cost is $3 per person, plus Museum admission.
This one-of-a-kind tour takes you on a trip throughout the Museum’s railyard, inspired by some of the best of children’s literature—railroad themed, of course! The Little Engine That Could, the Little Red Caboose and of course, Donald Crews’ Freight Train provide the suitable inspiration for this adventure at the Colorado Railroad Museum.

Orion Spacecraft

The Orion Spacecraft: Carrying Humans to the Moon and Beyond - presentation by Heather McKay
Ballroom A
Orion is NASA’s next generation spacecraft, uniquely designed to carry humans to explore deep space. No other spacecraft in development has the technology needed for the extremes of deep space, such as life support, navigation, communication, radiation shielding, and safety systems to protect astronauts and return them safely back home. Lockheed Martin is the prime contractor, designing and building the Orion spacecraft as part of NASA’s Artemis program, to develop a sustainable presence on the lunar surface of the moon and prepare humans to explore Mars. Come learn about the technologies, testing, and mission plans for the Orion spacecraft, including Artemis III, which will carry the first woman and the next man to the surface of the moon later this decade.
The lecture is free and open to the general public.
