Center for Railroad Photography & Art Winners

Every year, the Center for Railroad Photography & Art holds a contest that attracts some of today’s finest and most creative photographers. Those who placed in this year’s program will have their photographs displayed at the Colorado Railroad Museum in Golden into 2023. The Museum’s goal is to showcase not only Colorado’s rich railroad history, but also the many creative people—around the world—who keep the spirit of railroading alive and well in the 21st century.

The Salon:  Golden High School 150th Anniversary Exhibit 

Golden History Park (11th & Arapahoe):  The outdoor setting re-creates the look and feel of a late 1800's mountain ranch complete with gardens, a working blacksmith shop, schoolhouse and chicken coop (chickens included).

The main floor exhibits feature specimens from many Colorado mining districts, other global localities and an introductory video on area geology. The Special Exhibit Room hosts prominent precious metal and invited displays. The main gallery also showcases historic mining murals by Irwin Hoffman.

The basement contains numerous exhibits regarding radioactivity, fossils, basic geology, gemstones, meteorites, ultraviolet minerals and underground mining illumination. The outdoor geologic trail features seven outcrops with various geologic and paleontological points of interest, including fossilized dinosaur tracks, logs and leaves.

Caryl is an influential, award winning quilt maker best known for her organic, curved seam designs, her scintillating use of color, and her multilevel illusions of light and motion. Her attention to detail has earned her a reputation for fine craftsmanship as well as stunning designs.

Golden Walks

Golden Walks is a Chapter of Colorado-based Walk2Connect which provides free community walking, hiking, and rambling trips in and around Golden, CO, with a focus on connections to others, to the places we live, and to ourselves.

The walk is limited to 20 people.

Quilting with Paper with Jane Mathews

Start saving your junk mail and paper items for this great class showing you what to do with them!

Jane Mathews teaches her unique technique of quilting paper using junk mail, catalogs, maps, letters, photographs and more. Students will learn the basics of sewing on paper, creating a small paper quilt during class time.

This is a one day class, with a short break for a bag lunch.

Western Heritage Shows

Celebrating National Day of the Cowboy, come out for this free Wild West experience featuring some of the Westernaires Red and White division horseback drill teams, exciting specialty acts, and interactive experiences for everyone.

Specially tailored for summer camp groups, child day care classes, and adult day care groups, this fun-filled, inclusive event offers 30-minute long, unique, action-packed shows every 45 minutes. Activities are offered for all ages! Outdoor fun like the petting zoo, face painting, and interactive learning opportunities make the Western Heritage Show a smash hit with kids and adults alike.
