Center for Railroad Photography & Art Winners
Every year, the Center for Railroad Photography & Art holds a contest that attracts some of today’s finest and most creative photographers. Those who placed in this year’s program will have their photographs displayed at the Colorado Railroad Museum in Golden into 2023. The Museum’s goal is to showcase not only Colorado’s rich railroad history, but also the many creative people—around the world—who keep the spirit of railroading alive and well in the 21st century.

The Salon: Golden High School 150th Anniversary Exhibit
Golden History Park (11th & Arapahoe): The outdoor setting re-creates the look and feel of a late 1800's mountain ranch complete with gardens, a working blacksmith shop, schoolhouse and chicken coop (chickens included).

The main floor exhibits feature specimens from many Colorado mining districts, other global localities and an introductory video on area geology. The Special Exhibit Room hosts prominent precious metal and invited displays. The main gallery also showcases historic mining murals by Irwin Hoffman.
The basement contains numerous exhibits regarding radioactivity, fossils, basic geology, gemstones, meteorites, ultraviolet minerals and underground mining illumination. The outdoor geologic trail features seven outcrops with various geologic and paleontological points of interest, including fossilized dinosaur tracks, logs and leaves.

Thorns & Spikes | The 4 Common Corners
(through July 20, 2024)
It is amazing to see what comes from a creative group of people challenging each other to create original quilts for a theme. They take 4 months to develop and create their work for each theme. This exhibit is the result of the THEME challenge "Thorns and Spikes" for a group who all live in the Common 4 Corner states, and the only rule is that their work represents these states.

The revenue generated from vendor sales commission helps to cover market operating expenses and directly benefits small businesses and the economic development of the Golden Community.

Nature Journal Club: Sketching Wildflowers

Learn how to sketch wildflowers and then head out on the preserve to observe and record summer blossoms in your journal. This program will be held entirely outdoors in the Lookout Mountain Preserve picnic area and on nearby trails. The program may be moved indoors if there is cold or rainy weather

Full Walking Tour @ Dinosaur Ridge

The Full Walking Tour is a guided tour of the East and West sides of Dinosaur Ridge. A volunteer guide will interpret the dinosaur tracks and bone fossils, local history, and geology during the one-way, 1.5-mile tour on a paved trail will take 1.5-2 hours. All walkers require a ticket to be transported via a shuttle bus to their starting point. This tour is designed for participants ages 10 and older.
Tour Specifics:
- $18 per person (All walkers require a ticket to be transported via a shuttle bus to their starting point)
- 1.5-2 hours
- Admission to the Exhibit Hall is included with each ticket
- Masks are required on the shuttle bus (ages 3+).
- Tour may be called off for active precipitation, temps below 32 degrees, or lack of registrations.
- Appropriate attire: comfortable shoes, sun hats, sunglasses, removable clothing (windbreakers, fleeces, etc…)
- Bring water

Leaning Log Cabins

Where: Golden Quilt Company, 1108 Washington Avenue, Golden, CO
Learn how to take the log cabin block to a new level. We will discuss fabric placement, make four different blocks, and look at several layout possibilities that can be made from one or a combination of the blocks. Yes, it’s “leaning” log cabins!
NOTE: you will not be making a complete quilt. Fabric requirements for a complete quilt will be discussed in class.

We’re ready to see you for our next Open House! See sparks fly at the blacksmith shop. Take a lesson at the schoolhouse or make a craft in the historic Reynolds Cabin. Explore the Pearce Cabin and learn how the woodstove works. There’s enough fun at the Golden History Park for the whole family!
Visit on select Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., May through August. Join in hands-on activities, learn about pioneer history from our interpreters, and see special demonstrations. See history in action and transport yourself to the 1800s!
After you’re done at the park, swing by the Golden History Museum to see our latest exhibits, open Saturdays until 4:30 p.m. Admission is free to the Park and the Museum.

The Golden Fire Department invites media and guests to the official unveiling of a statue to honor nearly 150 years of volunteer fire service in the City of Golden. The bronze statue depicts three life-sized figures – a male firefighter kneeling beside a child, and a female firefighter with her hand on the child’s shoulder.
City of Golden Volunteer Firefighters and Austin Weisel, the artist and owner of Honorable Sculptures Inc., will be attending.
