Center for Railroad Photography & Art Winners
Every year, the Center for Railroad Photography & Art holds a contest that attracts some of today’s finest and most creative photographers. Those who placed in this year’s program will have their photographs displayed at the Colorado Railroad Museum in Golden into 2023. The Museum’s goal is to showcase not only Colorado’s rich railroad history, but also the many creative people—around the world—who keep the spirit of railroading alive and well in the 21st century.

The Salon: Golden High School 150th Anniversary Exhibit
Golden History Park (11th & Arapahoe): The outdoor setting re-creates the look and feel of a late 1800's mountain ranch complete with gardens, a working blacksmith shop, schoolhouse and chicken coop (chickens included).

The main floor exhibits feature specimens from many Colorado mining districts, other global localities and an introductory video on area geology. The Special Exhibit Room hosts prominent precious metal and invited displays. The main gallery also showcases historic mining murals by Irwin Hoffman.
The basement contains numerous exhibits regarding radioactivity, fossils, basic geology, gemstones, meteorites, ultraviolet minerals and underground mining illumination. The outdoor geologic trail features seven outcrops with various geologic and paleontological points of interest, including fossilized dinosaur tracks, logs and leaves.

Thorns & Spikes | The 4 Common Corners

It is amazing to see what comes from a creative group of people challenging each other to create original quilts for a theme. They take 4 months to develop and create their work for each theme. This exhibit is the result of the THEME challenge "Thorns and Spikes" for a group who all live in the Common 4 Corner states, and the only rule is that their work represents these states.

DeLong Park Weedbusters

Golden Parks and Recreation is using DeLong Park as a pilot project for the City’s first organic park location. This means that they will be using only natural, organic products for all plants and grasses. No synthetic chemicals will be used in our maintenance practices.
A group of weed-busting volunteers meets weekly at DeLong Park on Thursday mornings from 10:00 a.m. to noon to weed out invasive species. Interested community members can join the group.
The DeLong Park Weed Busters are always happy to bring in new members, and training on weed identification is provided!

Officer Phil Rogers with the Golden Police Department will review an aggravated elder abuse case that was successfully investigated and prosecuted. Also, Jennifer Kilpatrick with the Jefferson County District Attorney's Office will present the DA Dashboard which is a computer program to enhance DA transparency.
TRIAD of Jefferson County is an organization built on cooperation between senior community members, the District Attorney, law enforcement agencies, and senior service providers. Each are concerned about the safety and security of seniors living in Jefferson County.

Continuing Exploration of the Elements of Art

Meeting on Tuesday nights, “Continuing Exploration of the Elements of Art” builds on previous explorations in artistic self-expression. Each night we begin with a review of the previous week’s artwork and works in progress, followed by an exploration of a specific element of art that helps make for compelling work. The night includes a painting demonstration focused on the specific topic of the week. Continuing Exploration is an enjoyable, supportive group experience and all mediums are represented.
