Buy Golden Week starts today! This is a new event, designed to encourage us all to support our local, Golden-based businesses. It’s easy to stray beyond Golden’s boundaries to make our purchases, but staying in town is so much better for our quality of life.
Golden gets the lion’s share of its budget from sales tax, so every cent you spend in Golden is supporting snow plowing, street sweeping, police and fire protection, parks, and other public amenities.
We hope to see a surge in local spending this week, resulting in sales tax collections higher than last year’s for the same period. The extra sales tax proceeds will be donated to Golden’s schools.
Please…if you plan to visit a restaurant this week, dine in Golden! If you need to buy something, shop in Golden!
