GOLDEN HISTORY MOMENT
Charlene Pazar loaned me this program from the 2009 Buffalo Bill Days. Many of the traditions have remained unchanged–the pancake breakfast, arts & crafts and children’s activities in Parfet Park, mutton bustin, and of course the big parade on Saturday morning. Others have dropped by the wayside, including the Wild West Show and the rubber duck race down Clear Creek.
Chris Daniels and the Kings were headliners in 2009 (and they were here last night!).
Many of the program advertisers are still here, including Jimmy John’s, the Golden Farmers Market, Creekside Jewelers, Silver Horse, the Buffalo Rose, Woody’s Pizza, D’Deli, Golden Diner, and Safeway. Others are gone: Meyer Hardware, Blue Canyon Bar & Grill, Gene Bauer Goldsmith, Avenue Gifts, the Golden Skillet, Grappa, Juna Boutique, Pat’s Backdoor Framing, Pickets, and Urban Escape Day Spa.
Bill Pazar died that year, after leading Buffalo Bill Days for many years. The Wild West Show participants honored him with the traditional riderless horse, with boots reversed in the stirrups.
Thanks to the Golden History Museum for providing the online cache of historic Transcripts, and to the Golden Transcript for documenting our history since 1866!
