9AM-2PM – The Buffalo Rose is beginning a new service today. Brunch at the Rose will be offered every Saturday and Sunday from 9AM-2PM. The menu sounds great, with options including Churro Waffles, Stuffed French Toast, Huevos Motulenos, Smoked Salmon Eggs Benedict, and lots of other delicious options. See the full menu. They’ve also lined up some special cocktails for the occasion, including Bloody Mary, Michelada, Mimosa, No Shame and Breakfast Mule. Try them today, and stay tuned for brunches with special entertainment in the future!
8:30AM The GOGO Goosetown 5K Run and Festival is happening this morning. This event benefits the Golden Volunteer Fire Department. The race starts at 9, but even if you’re not interested in running, stop by and enjoy the music and food vendors, get a selfie in front of an antique fire engine, and check out the classic car show.
This is a good chance to start familiarizing yourself with the Goosetown Neighborhood, which will see many changes over the coming years, including the new municipal center and plans to build affordable housing in that area.
2-4PM Today’s Sunday Afternoon at the Quilt Museum sounds suitable to the season: Denise Labadie will be sharing her approach to art quilting, her evolution throughout the years, and the techniques she has developed to create her stone structures and landscapes. Denise is known for her stonescapes – stone circles, standing stones, forgotten cemeteries, and lost-in-history portals and passageways.
While you’re there, make sure you check out Evolutions 2019 Juried Challenge and Miniature Quilts from the Tina M. Gravatt Collection, because those shows close next Saturday, October 19th.
4-7PM The Buffalo Rose hosts their monthly Swing Night Supper Club tonight. Enjoy big band music and swing dancing. They offer dinner specials beginning at 4. From 5-7:30, the Flatirons Jazz Orchestra, featuring Deborah Stafford, will entrance you with the swing era music of Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Benny Goodman, and more. Dance if you wish, or just enjoy the music. $15 at the door. All ages are welcome–under 18 must come with a guardian.
