Blacksmithing, Kayaking, and Purging Today in Golden

Celebrate Homesteaders’ Day from 10AM-2PM today at the Golden History Park (formerly called the Clear Creek History Park). Experience 19th century homesteading, explore the historic cabins, try woodstove cooking, learn about blacksmithing, and take a lesson at the one-room schoolhouse. Free!

Do you like the picture above?  It’s a painting by Leila Reece, one of several that she did for the museum when it opened in the late 1930s.  She also worked on the museum’s dioramas of early Golden.  Visit their digital collection to see all of her paintings and lots of early photographs of Golden.

Congratulations to the students graduating from Golden High School today!

Golden History Roundtable
The Golden History Roundtable will meet at 2PM at the Golden Library.  Barb Warden will tell us about the Railroads of Golden.  This includes the Colorado Central, Denver Lakewood & Golden, the Denver & Northwestern (an interurban that came through Arvada), both funicular railways, and RTD’s light rail.

The Golden Games continue along the Creek today from 9:30-7.  See the schedule to see what’s happening when.
