On Saturday September 15th 2012, thousands of people around the world will take part in a global event: “World Wide Views on Biodiversity.” At least one hundred citizens in each participating country will attend a day-long meeting to learn about biodiversity issues, make up their minds about them, and express their views. The meetings will start at dawn in the Pacific and continue until dusk in the Americas. All results will be supplied to United Nations negotiators for the UN meeting in October where policies for preserving biological diversity will be decided.
The Colorado School of Mines (in Golden) will host the Colorado deliberations, and is recruiting citizens to participate on September 15th. We are seeking applications from persons aged 16 and up, and will choose participants who reflect the demographics of the Denver metro area. Those who attend the deliberation will receive $50 to cover travel costs, plus meals for the day. Applications are available at hennebach.mines.edu/HB-wwviews-biodiversity. Questions?
