The Golden Fine Arts Festival starts today and runs through tomorrow (Sunday). There is no admission fee and as always, the Festival features free horse-drawn carriage rides through historic downtown Golden, live music and artist demonstrations. For younger art lovers, be sure to check out the ArtReach Kids Art Zone. New this year, the Clear Creek History Park is featuring Artisans in the Park. Visitors will have the opportunity to observe demonstrations by blacksmiths, leather toolers, spinners, and fiber artists, and can even purchase their traditional artwork on the spot. Head down to 11th Street, between Arapahoe and Maple, to enjoy the festivities.
The Golden Farmers Market (10th and Illinois) will have extended hours today, in honor of the Arts Festival. They will be open from 8 AM – 4 PM.
Foothills Art Center (809 15th Street) is holding a sidewalk sale today from 10-4:30, featuring the works of many fine artists (at fine prices!).
There will be a Kids Bike Rodeo in the Coors Tek parking lot (10th and Jackson) from 10 AM – 4 PM. Kids can learn to ride safely on this outdoor course, and have fun while they’re at it!
The Railroad Museum is holding their monthly Ride the Rails day, which means they’ll be firing up one of their coal-fired or diesel locomotives and giving train rides around the museum campus today from 9 AM – 5 PM.
