The Library is offering “Cardboard Creations” for preschoolers – tweens from 4:30-6:30. It’s a car! It’s a plane! It’s whatever you imagine, but it’s definitely not just a box. Using cardboard, Makedo
screws, tape and a lot of creativity, there’s no limit to what you can build. Drop in and build. Supplies provided. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult.
We have some tough decisions as to what to do tonight.
6PM – Foothills Art Center is hosting Art on Tap tonight. They’ll be playing Bingo. Test your luck and knowledge of art and have fun with friends! Beer provided by Golden City Brewery. THIS IS A 21+ EVENT. Admission to Foothills Art Center and the program is free for our Members. Non-members gain free access to the program upon paid admission to Foothills Art Center.
6PM – The Golden History Center is hosting a lecture tonight. Moving West: Who Moved to California in the 1930s and Why. Migration to California is one of the dominant history topics of the 1930s, built on a wealth of information from literature, news stories, and photographs. Using newly available data from the 1940 U.S. Census, this lecture will reveal insights on the people who moved, the places they came from, and why they may have moved, with special attention to the link between migration and the environmental trauma of the 1930s. $0 Members; $10 non-members Register.
6PM – The School of Mines will hold a Community Meeting from 6-7PM at the Ben Parker Student Center Grand Ballroom (map). They will discuss Sustainability (Phase II Energy Performance Contract), Construction Projects (Green Center – North Chiller Plant, Parking Garage/Classroom Building, Spruce Hall, Jackson Hall – Partnership, Facility Operations North, Facility Operations South, Utility Infrastructure Improvements, and MP Parking lot), and the Mines Master Plan (Sub-Surface Frontiers Research Building, Washington/18th Parking Garage, 14th Street shared pedestrian/vehicle way, Mines Park Daycare Center).
6:30 – City Council will have a Study Session (no public comment) in City Council Chambers. They will discuss the Historic Preservation Board’s Preservation Plan: The preservation planning process worked on developing a vision, goals, and priorities for the preservation of Golden’s historic and cultural resources. The plan identifies important stories that reflect Golden’s history and culture, looks for ways to improve the interpretation, understanding, and enjoyment of Golden’s stories, and identifies sites and resources that are part of telling those stories. Council will also review a draft of a Board and Commission Manual. You can see both documents in tonight’s meeting packet….
