Washington Avenue from 11th to 14th Streets will be closed for traffic from 2PM till midnight tonight for the Mopar Big Block Party, which kicks of the Mile-High Nationals at Bandimore Raceway. The party, which runs from 6-10PM, is free and open to the public. Learn more….

Two houses at 1919 Ford Street are set to be torn down soon, so the owner has invited the Fire Department to use the houses to practice their life-saving skills. You may see emergency vehicles in that area today and tomorrow. There will be no fire involved in the drills!
The ever-ambitious members of the Foothills Running and Cycling Club are having Goat Challenge #4 tonight. Meet at the Beverly Heights Park at about 6:20 and see how quickly you can ride up Lookout Mountain!
Tonight‘s the night when you can see what our roving Artsweek Golden painters have been producing all week. Foothills Art Center is hosting a reception tonight from 6-8PM called “Aerialists and Art in the Garden.” You read that right–as you’re sipping Merlot and admiring paintings of Golden, people will be flying around overhead. Free admission, and it will be a good chance to see their new courtyard.
Tomorrow, you can take a free walking tour of Golden’s public art collection. Tours leave the Visitors Center at 9:30, 10:30, and 1.
City Council meets tonight at 6:30. This will be a study session, so no public comment will be allowed. They will begin with a review of Council Rules of Procedures. Alison Bodor from Leadership Golden will report on their special projects for the year. They will review the City’s proposed Communications & Community Engagement Plan. Their goals are to:
1: Sustain an informed public
2: Seek understanding of community perspectives
3: Tap into the collective intelligence of the community
4: Ensure transparency in City decisions, actions, and decision-making processes
5: Equip City staff to communicate, collaborate, and engage with the community effectively
6: Enhance collaboration, communication, and cohesiveness within and between City departments
