Today would be a good day to visit because the Curator, Marianne Lorenz, is lecturing on “Ansel Adams: Artist and Conservationist.” Join Foothills Art Center curator, Marianne Lorenz, as she explores the art of world-renowned photographer, Ansel Adams. Adams, one of the most influential and inspirational photographers in the 20th century, was also a committed mountaineer and conservationist who influenced local, regional and national policies on the need to preserve America’s wilderness environment. This four-part lecture series will explore Ansel Adams’ life, how his work fits in the history of landscape art, his place in 20th century photography, and his role as a conservationist who influenced a generation of American legislators and environmentalists. In addition to Adams, artists such as Georgia O’Keefe, Alfred Stieglitz, Edward Weston and Albert Bierstadt will be discussed. Members: Free / Non Members $5.
