Today, we get to celebrate the 4th of July in Golden, Colorado. Are we lucky, or what?
For the zillionth year in a row, the Golden Lions Club will hold a 4th of July Festival in Lions Park (map). The action starts at noon and runs until dusk, when the City will provide a fireworks show. There will be FREE rides for the kids and FREE face painting. There will be live music throughout the day:
12:15 – 3:00: The Johnny O Band (Blues)
3:30 – 6:00: Ryan Chrys & the Rough Cuts (Modern Outlaw Country)
6:30 – 9:15: Something Underground (Rock)
The Lions Club will be serving sangria and wine from a Denver winery, and Golden City Brewery (our original craft brewery) will be selling beer. Food will also be available for purchase.
The FIREWORKS show will start at about 9:30. The Lions Park ball fields are a good place to watch.
The creek is now open for tubing, but the water is still very high and fast, and you’re encouraged to wear a flotation device and a helmet. 9News interviewed Fire Chief Bales about a boy they saved yesterday. Be warned!
Most of the stores in downtown Golden will be open for business, as well as nearly all of the restaurants and breweries.
Fossil Trace is offering 18 holes today from 11AM-1PM for $60. They’re offering 18 holes AFTER 4PM for only $40! Tomorrow (Wednesday the 5th) you can play 18 holes any time for $60. Check here for available tee times.
